kyago – the ideal platform

kyago is the ideal platform for collecting quality-relevant data in IT and communication networks

kyago is the ideal platform for collecting quality-relevant data in IT and communication networks. This data is gathered by means of test connections to the customer interfaces. This approach provides an assessment of service quality from the customer perspective, as all the system components involved in an end-to-end connection are included in the test.

kyago provides an authentic portrayal of the service quality from the customers’ perspective. Customer behaviour and device behaviour do not affect the results. In combination with other, internal network data, this provides new approaches for quality management:

  • fully documented test connections
  • complete control of the connections to be tested
  • rapid and reproducible results
  • no requirements regarding data protection

Ad-hoc measurements

Often, given suspected problems in the network or an accumulation of errors, it is necessary to carry out in-depth measurements for the analysis taking the exact circumstances into account. In this case, with kyago targeted short-term campaigns can be defined or individual test connections carried out directly on screen.

Routine measurements

To make practical and economic use of the advantages of test connections, a series of automatic, computer-controlled mechanisms is required. Routine works should not affect the user. The specialist should only be brought in in cases where professional knowledge and experience are really needed. kyago has taken account of these requirements in the concept.

Network-wide examinations can be defined, implemented and evaluated by mouse click. The measurement units work autonomously, without operation required on site. All periodic activities are controlled automatically from the central server. Manual activities can be carried out conveniently from a workstation in the office.

The routine measurements can be defined in a simple way and run without further supervision. The user receives the results in the form of reports and in clear, graphic dashboards.

If quality objectives are to be controlled, routine measurements can be provided with threshold values and supervised. In this case, the term monitoring is used. If a test connection fails to meet the requirements, the user is immediately informed by alerts and detailed results are made available for this connection.

Standards

Flexible measurement sets make kyago a universal and future-proof tool.

The measured data are collected in accordance with the recommendations defined by the Broadband Forum (TR 126), the German Institute for Standardization (DIN 66274), the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI EG 202 057, TS 103 222 and TR 101 290), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU P.863, T.22 and J.247), the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF RFC3350 and RFC 3357) and the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Furthermore, measurements can be implemented according to customer specifications.

Specially tailored hardware and software

For the kyago platform, powerful hardware and software are used, which are specially tailored to this application and enable a high degree of flexibility and long-term feasibility.

zafaco offers a wide selection of measuring units - from fanless embedded box PC systems (B-IPC), to compact fanless DIN rail industrial PC systems (H-IPC) to ultra-compact micro PCs (M-IPC) with passive components and fanless cooling.

Various connection technologies

The range of possible applications includes measurements on analogue (a/b) and digital (ISDN S0, ISDN S2M) lines on air interfaces (GSM, GPRS, UMTS, LTE, 5G) and LAN/WAN interfaces, including SIP trunking. Thus, data can be collected which is relevant in a real mixed environment. This approach provides an assessment of service quality from the customer perspective, because all the system components involved in an end-to-end connection are included in the test.
